Soun of Ogbomosoland Appoints First-Ever Palace Chaplain
A significant milestone in the religious history of the Ogbomoso Palace
In a historic move, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has appointed Rev’d Samuel Oluwatosin Owoade as the first-ever Chaplain of the Ogbomoso Palace. This landmark decision, announced in a press release by the monarch’s Coordinating Assistant on Media and Community Relations, Rev’d Peter Olaleye, aims to establish structure and consistency in Christian worship within the palace.

According to the statement made available to the press, Oba Olaoye disclosed the appointment while addressing the leadership of the Heads of Churches and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). He emphasized that the decision followed extensive consultations and divine guidance.
A New Era for Spiritual Leadership in Ogbomoso Palace
With this appointment, the palace now has a structured religious leadership system, comprising the Palace Chief Imam, Palace Chaplain, and Araba Oluawo. Each leader is responsible for overseeing religious activities within their respective faith traditions.
“This will help in standardizing worship experiences in the palace,” Rev’d Olaleye stated. “Kabiyesi believes this system will enhance efficiency and effectiveness in spiritual engagements.”
Who is Rev’d Samuel Oluwatosin Owoade?
Before his appointment, Rev’d Owoade served as the Minister-in-Charge of New Covenant Baptist Church, Aduin, Ogbomoso. He possesses an impressive academic background, including:
- B.A. (Hons) – University of Ibadan (2016)
- B.Th. in Missiology – Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso (2016)
- M.A. in Philosophy of Religion – University of Ibadan (2018)
- PhD in Christian Theology (in progress) – Kwara State University, Malete
- Certifications in Computer Science from Faith Education Ministry and Dapson Computer Institute
Rev’d Owoade has vast experience in religious leadership, having served in various capacities within the Baptist Students Fellowship, Baptist Associations, and CAN. His extensive knowledge and experience make him well-suited for this new role.
Expectations and Responsibilities
As Palace Chaplain, Rev’d Owoade is expected to oversee and coordinate Christian worship services within the palace. Oba Olaoye urged him to fulfill his responsibilities diligently as outlined in his appointment letter.
Rev’d Owoade is married to Mrs. Folake Eunice Owoade, a Principal Nursing Officer at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and they are blessed with children.
